Re The care of Dr Paul Roberts Street Lane Periodontics Practice

After my initial visit and examination by Dr Roberts, I was then referred to my appointed Hygienist (Louise) who has since taken great care of my gums and teeth.

My gums were in poor condition (bleeding and deep pockets) but thanks to Louise’s expertise have improved and continue to do so.

At one review with Dr Roberts his attention to detail was evident when he discovered some red spots in my mouth. After taking some photos which he then sent to Leeds Dental School, I then attended to have a biopsy where a small amount of skin was removed. The results were negative. However Dr Roberts’s observation was very important.

All members of the practice are friendly, very efficient and re-assuring at all times.

I remember vividly arriving for the first time at Dr Roberts clinic, with some trepidation, if a gold medal could have been given for nerves there is no doubt it would have been mine. But, as soon as I went through the door and was greeted by Karen I could feel the calm and from then on I felt I was in safe hands and this proved to be true.

If anyone has any doubts about having an implant, rest assured you have no need to worry, all is carefully explained from start to finish of the procedure. I am so pleased with my implant and this is thanks to Dr Roberts and his excellent team.

The one thing I was dreading was the work to be done to put my gums in good order. From past experience this was something I was not looking forward to. But, the Dental Hygienist Louise straightaway dispelled my fears. She is kind, considerate and highly professional. No words can really say how much she has done for the improvement to the health of my gums.

What I can say is how grateful I am for all the hard work she has invested in me.

I have been attending Paul’s clinic in Leeds now for nearly 10 years.

He & his team, from his Hygienist’s to his reception staff ably led by Karen, have not only shown a consistently high level of professional treatment’s & advice, but have done so in an atmosphere of friendliness & warmth that is a credit to all.

My Hygienist Louise has been supportive throughout the regular visits I have made to ‘her chair’!

She has a caring, listening manner, culminating in sound advice as we have ‘journeyed together’ throughout my treatment.

I have been visiting this surgery for a number of years after suffering from gum disease. I have no doubt the dedication and patience of Louise the dental hygienist has saved me from following my mother and grandmother into denture hell. It is not a quick fix and it takes a lot of commitment from the patient too. The professionalism and friendliness of all the staff at the clinic is consistent. Several years ago, when faced with the prospect of further oral surgery after previous treatments to halt gum disease had resulted in various degrees of success, I approached Paul Roberts at the Street Lane Periodontal and Dental Implant Clinic for advice. He recommended a more gentle approach to the problem, with minimal trauma to the gum margins; and placed me under the care of the Dental Hygienist, Louise.

After just one (virtually painless) deep-cleaning session, the problem was resolved; and since then I have not had any recurrence of gum disease: this after years of infections and emergencies!

I have chosen to stay with the Practice, and now attend on a regular basis; for an annual review with Paul, and every four months for treatment with Louise. I am very happy to spend an hour in the chair, knowing that in her care my teeth and gums are being maintained to optimal health, and that any questions I may have will be answered honestly and pleasantly. Under Paul’s guidance and his preference not to over-treat, and Louise’s deft touch, I have confidence in them both and know that I am safe in their care.

Dental Hygienist – Louise

I have travelled from a small village near York in order to be treated by Louise, the Dental Hygienist, since October 2005. I am delighted with the improvement in the health of my gums and teeth and try to follow the helpful advice and guidance that comes with each visit.

I confess to being a wimp with regards to dental visits (along with 98 per cent of the population), but Louise copes sympathetically with all my little foibles – the tendency to gag when I’ve got instruments in my mouth; the cushion provided to give better support for my long neck (no, I’m not a giraffe!)

All this to create a positive experience that, with excellent brushing and flossing directions, encourages me to help myself. What a lovely girl.

Dear Dr Roberts

I am sorry for not getting in touch with you earlier and trust it is not too late to provide you with a testimonial letter regarding my treatment at the Street Lane Clinic.

It was about three years ago that I first began to notice some bleeding from my gums and was concerned enough to go to my dentist’s practice in Pontefract to seek advice. They were able to diagnose the onset of gum disease and recommended that I be referred to the Street Lane Clinic and the specialist care available there.

An appointment followed shortly afterwards, during which a thorough examination was made by yourself and after which a detailed written report was provided. Unfortunately, the onset of gum disease was confirmed and the diagnosis found that a number of deep pockets were forming around some teeth. That my teeth are quite shallow rooted raised further concerns as in time the teeth could become loose and eventually be lost.

Despite the concerns the report raised it suggested a course of treatment which could counteract the gum disease. This recommended regular visits to one of the clinic’s dental hygienist’s, Louise, and advice about a regular cleaning regime at home.

I decided to take up the advice in the report and have been attending the Street Lane Clinic on a regular basis ever since. I have also followed the recommendations for regular cleaning as advised by the clinic and now am in the much happier position of the gum disease having been brought under control. Bleeding of the gums has disappeared; pockets around the teeth have reduced and the threat of tooth loss is no longer a concern.

I very much appreciate the treatment I have received from the Street Lane Clinic and in particular from Louise, the dental hygienist with whom I have regular appointments and who has, I believe, done so much to help improve the health of my gums. I would also like to extend my thanks to all the staff at the clinic, from those on reception to the dental nurses assisting with treatments, who have always presented with a warm and friendly manner.

If asked, I would have no hesitation in recommending the Street Lane Clinic and would be happy for this letter to be published on your website.

I have been referred to Dr Roberts for a check up and subsequently for a treatment by my own dentist.

I have been seen by Dr Roberts and he has referred me further to have appointments with his Hygienist Louise.

I have been attending the treatment every six weeks for over a year now and feel that I have had a fabulous treatment!

Whilst having my teeth scaled, Louise is very easy to get on with and very friendly, very understanding and puts you at ease with very good explanations about the sensations and the treatment itself. I found that when I feel some discomfort, Louise is very quick at understanding what kind of discomfort and what I am experiencing...Louise is very thorough and very good at giving advice on my own keep up with my oral hygiene! She has given me belief in Dentists again, as I have for years attended the NHS dentists, who I feel have not been as thorough in my case...

I would thoroughly recommend Louise and Dr Roberts and their assistants to anybody!

Dear Paul,

I would like to thank you for your treatment over the last ten years which has resulted in my teeth being much more stable. I have not had to lose any more teeth since I first saw you and have not had any more infections that used to be so unpleasant.

As you know, I have been seeing Louise regularly for the past ten years. She is always very aware of which parts of my mouth are really sensitive and takes great care to make sure that any discomfort is kept to a minimum. In the early days I needed local anaesthetic before Louise could start work but for a long time now this has been unnecessary. She always points out (in the nicest way!) which parts I may not be cleaning as well as I could, and together we have considerably improved the health of my gums. I am very grateful for all her hard work done with great care and good humour.

I was referred to Dr Paul Roberts in 2000, with a serious gum infection, resulting in a requirement, for surgery and extensive hygiene treatment.

Following most successful treatment I have maintained good dental health, with routine hygiene treatment/checks.

In particular my thanks to Louise, my long serving “hygienist”, for the care, consideration and attention  she has given me over the years, always patient, giving good advice and encouragement.

A visit to the dentist is not an unpleasant experience, thanks to all the members of the staff, who at all times show courtesy and consideration.

I have been a patient of Dr Paul Roberts for approximately ten years, during which time I have had four successful implants.

I was an extremely nervous patient, but was soon put at ease by him and his very caring and professional team. I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care and attention I received through all procedures.
